We’re looking for passionate, dedicated people toto support our BWT In-Year Events Team!
Events are the heart of our organization. They engage our members and volunteers by offering opportunities to learn new information and skills, connect in meaningful ways and develop our careers. And being part of the team who plans them lets you be the one to provide these things to them. You get to be creative, explore the world of events, and hone your own leadership and strategic planning skills – all while having a great time with an amazing group of people.
Responsibilities Include:
In collaboration with 1-2 other Events Team Co-Leads, you will:
Plan the Annual Event Roadmap
• Ensure events align with and support BWT’s overall strategic goals
• Ensure Event Project Teams are in place to execute each event
• Ensure Post-event results are reported throughout the year
Support the Events Team through:
• Recruitment and onboarding of new volunteers
• Host monthly meetings to:
• Help organize Event Project Teams
• Ensure Event Teams are meeting milestones and deliverables
• That Event Team volunteers’ workload is manageable to avoid burnout
Build projected annual budget based on Events Roadmap and work with Events Team to report on actual spending
• Ensure Succession Planning is in place:
• Ensure sufficient coverage among Events Team Co-Leads throughout the year
• Ensure all plans, processes, and critical information are accessible and up to date
Connect with other Operations Teams
• To secure event support (ex. promotional support from Marketing Team)
• To develop event strategy to support those other teams (ex. recruitment for Membership Team)
LIaise with the Governance Team
• Ensure event results are reported for monthly Governance Meetings
• Communicate any support required from the Governance Team (speakers, volunteers, resources, etc.)

What you bring to the table:
• Energy, enthusiasm, initiative; a can-do attitude and a keenness to learn
• Some project or event management experience, natural leadership and vision
• Organization, proficiency in Google Workspace, EventBrite and other event platforms
• A knack for problem solving and ability to escalate should roadblocks be encountered
• Willingness to represent BWT and a passion for diversity and intersectional inclusion
Estimated Time Commitment
• Meetings: 1-2 hours a month
• Strategic planning: 1-2 hours a month
• Team support: 1-2 hours a month
